The Spring collection was inspired by creating a landscape of the body. The starting point was a focus on abstract, ethereal photography of landscapes. This inspiration translates to many of the shapes in the collection. The shapes are simple, yet unique. Specific details are revealed in the construction which allows the pieces to be worn in a variety of ways. The clothing gives the impression of being "collapsed". This concept is conveyed through the pieces that have a very feminine feel, such as the wrap around top and dress and the hand knit linen. Although soft and collapsed, the shapes have a very architectural structure. Proportion plays an important role as shrunken shapes are made interesting because they are also wide, so they include a drop shoulder silhouette. The special element of the knits is their mysterious quality as the yarns are sheer, almost translucent.
These items present nice layers on top of lighter pieces for Spring. The idea of the landscape is further revealed in the finishing treatments which include interesting pleats on sheer knits, angled and exposed seams, layering and patch working of different fabrics, again with unexpected details.
Color and print are revealed in beautiful watercolor florals and broken geometrics that create a grid or street map which express a mapping of the body. Colors range from makeup shades of coral pinks, dusty purples and indigo, which are all accented with interesting neutrals like putty grey, dark brown and canvas. There is a play on layering sheer fabrics on top of opaque in different patterns. This technique is displayed in the double layer group that creates an abstract plaid effect. Other examples include mixing materials, like knits with woven hoods and chunky gauge cotton with fine gauge panels.
