Urban beatnik is exactly what the tsesay girl is feeling this season. Her free spirit and confidence allow her to individualize the multiple layers of the spring 2009 collection.
Spring knitwear incorporates special stitching through diverse techniques. Multi-end ladder stitching and technical stretch body conscious underpinnings which are core programs this season. Wovens include multi textured and overwashed fabrics. These work back to tarnished and enameled hardware and zippers. Drawstrings, ties and lace up details prevail. Graphic, layered crochet pieces, open texture and miss match intarsia stripes add an eclectic element. The collection is rounded off by special folding; tucking and angled hemlines which intensify the structure of soft pieces. The hard pieces maintain a softened utilitarian feel.
Summer knits focus on novelty as crochet continues to be featured in lighter weight stripes, tassels and laddering. Summer plaid offers the element of texture and space-dye striping present updates to basics.
Wovens are softer in summer. Shirt dresses in textured plaid and boy shorts reveal effortless comfort and style. Fringed, striped cotton and bias textured ruffles soften when combined with cotton canvas.
The key pieces in the spring/summer collection include the combination knit/woven pieces, the lingerie inspired body conscious knits, the graphic crochet dress and the prevalence of uneven hemlines.
Tonality is key to the colors for spring, which include cobalt, bud, and apricot.The summer collection features dusty tones such as Acai dusk, marine, ice lilac and bright white. Prints are bold, color blocked and pieced. Color and texture are highlighted in partial knitting/plaiting techniques, engineered ottoman piecing and the mixing of knit with woven pieces.
The tsesay girl continues to gravitate to the eclectic, modern style that is consistently captured each season. Her eye for detail attracts her to the unusual texture, bold colors and silhouettes that are at the core of the collection.
