tsesay - spring/summer 2008
Inspired by artist Brice Marden, the tsesay spring 2008 collection combines bold color combinations and strategic feminine details to soften its graphic and sharp elements.
The design highlights a variety of texture through the layering and mixing of fabric. sweaters are knit in stripes of loose and tight gauges while hooded, full bodied tunics are created with mesh sleeves, contrasting from their jersey and silk bodies.
While aiming to create an easy to wear collection, tsesay has developed a modern style of uniform dressing including pieces like the smock-style gladiator dress in cadmium orange, slimmed down jodhpurs in the traditional khaki, and a stark jumpsuit softened by its dusty rose color and silk fabric.
Seasonal elements such as a skirt with a paper bag waist and oversized pockets or a modern linen blouse enhanced with layered and puffed sleeves, highlight the ideas of contrast and opposition.
A cropped silhouette is also introduced in the spring 2008 collection as a turn from the longer sack styles presented in holiday 2007. Shortened sweaters and cardigans can be paired with high waisted skirts as well as basic elongated tanks to dress up or down the style.
Layering of more body conscious pieces in bright colors such as magenta, canary and cadmium orange highlight the muted volume of linen tops and layered voile skirts in zinc white, smoke and tawny.
