men - Spring/Summer 2009

The focus of the Tse Men Spring 2009 collection is on existing in a state of flux in nature, while creating intimacy and emotional sensations by embracing technology.

Conventionally, a sense of stability has been associated with nature while the rapid change of technology has been seen as disruptive to its vulnerability/intimacy. Spring, however, celebrates technical stimulus and at the same time a need for protection and preparedness in nature.

This is manifested through voluminous protective shapes such as oversized anoraks and cardigans as well as loungewear shapes such as sweat pants and thin, comfortable tops with Henley neck details.

Materials
Texture coexists in the opposing nature of vulnerability/protection and technology by use of fabrics such as cozy terry stitch cashmere and crisp and structured technical cotton.

This collection embraces scientific advances in natural materials. Cotton is so refined that it begins to feel like a synthetic material, treated with a water proofing finish. The papery structured quality feels protective. A cotton twill suiting is spun with nylon in order to create a unique hand-feel and natural stretch. A refined wool/silk and cashmere terry texture gives an emotional response to the touch.

Colors
The central colors to this collection are warm neutrals, indigo-lilac blues/purples, gold-caramel-rust browns and pastels. Neutrals in shades of navy, olive and teal are broken with strong technological brights such as orange and yellow.

In summary, the inspiration behind Spring's collection can be drawn from the following 5 ideas:
- A utility element of modern luxury garments
- Parachute fabrication and detailing
- Clothing which transforms to suit the needs of its wearer
- Seaming and woven piece layouts
- Loungewear elements
