IMPRINT
The inspiration behind the TSE Spring 2008 Men's Collection is the concept of imprinting. Playing on a consciousness of times past, the concept unfolds into a full men's collection of uniquely executed knitwear and bold wovens that incorporate a strong silhouette and vibrant color.
SILHOUETTE
Highlights of the Spring 2008 Collection are noticed in the carefully placed details such as integrally knit necklines and sleeves. Using non- traditional methods and yarns that are technically difficult to weave, the collection is blended into clean structures. Garment printing and washing treatments which are unnatural to luxury fibers, were executed to achieve atypical and innovative effects. Knitted panels were cut and tailored into a suit, narrow trouser and skinny tie as if they were fine wovens. Sweaters use multiple fabrics to create texture and color-blocking details, and double knitted cashmere rope forms belts and other accessories.
Tapered slim pants and short jackets are juxtaposed against oversized shirts and knitwear to create proportion. Lean shirts are paired with full volume pants to convey balance whereas an oversize anorak is muted by a structured short.
FABRICS
Natural properties of the fabric are magnified by creating contrasting combinations. For example, the density, drape and luster of linen, against the loft and hair of cashmere. A style cut in a fabrication which is smooth, structured and formed, is also cut in a fabrication which is collapsing and wrinkled to create complementary silhouettes. Finishes on natural fibers impart new properties, such as chintz, waterproofing, washing and pressing. Washing the fabric invokes time into the pieces thus tying it back to the idea of imprinted memories.
COLORS
Colors consist of a concentrated neutral palette, with a focus on pale shades of cement and dark taupes against black. Sharp accents then highlight the silhouettes with shades of dark royal blue, poppy and citron.
Imprinting leaves a mark on the TSE Spring 2008 Men's Collection by creating a wardrobe complete with the elements key to the season: Innovative details, narrow and oversized silhouettes, contrasting fabrics and strong colors.
